TESTIMONIALS

Rick won all AOTH and Open Mare halter classes with Cori (Hal ofa Fire) at the Triple Crown Show - all 6! And she is so happy to be back with Larry - just loves him. Her reaction when Larry walked into our home barn was something to see. She just got big eyed, nickered and proceeded to smell and rub Larry all over.

Rick also had a good showing with Viktor (Hal ofa Victory) - winning 2 of his classes - a true living reflection of Larry's ability as a horseman and friend as Viktor continues his recovery and rehabilitation after his extensive injuries. Although not yet 100% he received fine comments from several trainers there and we are hopeful he will soon be at the competitive level he was prior to injury. If any one can bring him back it is Larry. The care he is receiving under Larry and the staff at Byron Downs is phenomenal.

We met Larry after we foolishly bought a horse not matched to our young daughter's riding level at the time. Yosemity was rideable, but after Larry started training him, we realized he was never really broke to ride, especially for for a child. We sold "Yo" after Larry got him trained, and Yo went on to be a state dressage champion the next year with his new owners - a phenomenal improvement!

Larry is expert at matching horse and rider, and he found the horse Shannon showed very successfully through her high school years, Duke Creek VIP. Shannon had taken lessons before and knew how to sit pretty on a horse in the ring, but Larry taught her how to really ride and communicate with her horse. She won numerous ribbons and awards from then on, and got her first blue ribbon the first time she rode VIP in the show ring. It wasn't long before my husband Jim decided he might like to show, too. He started taking lessons from Larry, and in his first year of showing, Jim and VIP won the Sr. Western Pleasure horse year-end award on the competitive EWHA circuit. Throughout all of those years of showing, Larry kept VIP fine tuned and well conditioned to win. Larry was accustomed to hauling clients to higher-level shows, but Shannon and Jim's success at the local level was just as important to him.

In addition to training and lessons, Larry taught our family the essentials of good horse care, from feeding for best performance and health to the difference an equine chiropractor and farrier can make. The man has a wealth of knowledge drawn from years of successful experience. His advice and rehabilitation skills are the main reason my 30-year-old quarter horse is healthy and active.

Shannon and Jim no longer show, but Larry and his wife Fay are still very good friends. To this day, if one of our horses so much as sneezes, we are on the phone with Larry to get his advice. He is more than a trainer - he is one of the very few true horsemen still around.
